Hyperopic participants needed for a study
Goal of the study is to better understand the visual information that might promote or lead to hyperopia (far-sightedness).
The study will be performed by Léa Ingrassia, Myopia Research Group at the Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel, Mittlere Strasse 91, 4031 Basel, Switzerland.
Subjects: Hyperopic young adults (18-35 years old, without strabismus, with a refraction between +1D and +8D).
Project : It will be studied whether hyperopic eyes can still respond with small transient changes in eye length when movies are watched that are not in focus (the effect was already found in normally-sighted subjects).
Procedure and duration of the study: Movies will be watched for 30 minutes. Subjects wear either positive lenses (+3.5D) or negative lenses (-3.5D) on top of the habitual correction. Axial length will be measured with the Haag-Streit Lenstar LS900 before and after the experiment. Measurements are purely optical, without touching the eye and without eye drops. The study requires two sessions - one with the negative lens and one with the positive lens. Each session will last max 1h.
Reimbursement: CHF 20.-/hour.
All information is treated confidentially.
